1 John 1: 1 – 4 “We proclaim to you the one who existed from the beginning, whom we have heard and seen. We saw him with our own eyes and touched him with our own hands. He is the Word of life. This one who is life itself was revealed to us, and we have seen him. And now we testify and proclaim to you that he is the one who is eternal life. He was with the Father, and then he was revealed to us. We proclaim to you what we ourselves have actually seen and heard so that you may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We are writing these things so that you may fully share our joy.” – NLT
So far, our 2022 has been marked with a definitive approach to seeing Jesus as alive and with us. We have done a tremendous job of making sure that we understand our mission, and how that mission today lines up with the same mission of the first century church. Those few believers lived out their faith. They had no New Testament to rely on, and the only basis for their belief was the relationship that they had with the Messiah.
During Easter we have been focusing on how we can live a life that looks more like Jesus, just as the early disciples did. If we are following Jesus closely, then our lives should be a direct reflection of the same Jesus from Scripture. In June we will continue this journey and take on the same mentality as those early disciples, we will Prove It. How can we put into practice the same belief in Jesus and allow His life to empower ours so that we can prove it to our neighbors and community.
At Pentecost, the disciples were empowered with the Holy Spirit to take the good news to the world. They began with a power that was unexplainable. Pentecost was the catalyst for the explosion of the church. We will walk alongside God, and allow our Walk With God to show the world what Jesus looks like. How can we walk with God if we do not know God? Knowing God and the will of God comes from studying about who He is and what His desires are for us through Jesus. We will wrap up the month of June by exploring how Jesus’ sacrificial love is the same today as it was thousands of years ago. When we are living lives that look like the sacrificial love of Jesus, we can Prove It!
I hope that you will be able to join us in person, or online, to experience the power of proving who Jesus is and what Jesus is still doing today!
