The Story of Christmas

Luke 2: 4 – 7 “And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea, David’s ancient home. He traveled there from the village of Nazareth in Galilee. He took with him Mary, to whom he was engaged, who was now expecting a child. And while they were there, the time came for her baby to be born. She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him snugly in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no lodging available for them.” – NLT

We have our faith and our remembrance of Christmas because of the story. The story of Christmas is one of triumph, struggle, and a miracle in the most unsuspecting place. To think that the Savior of the world, God in human form, would be born in a stable next to the animals is incredible.

We believe in this story due to the ancestors who have gone before us and rekindled these memories over and over through the years. This is not just a fairytale story, yet one we can identify as correct and accurate according to history. We may get some of the traditions wrong as we have changed them over the years, but the birth of a Savior was a real thing.

Just like the story of Jesus being born, we too have our own stories. Our stories are filled with pain, grief, tragedy, and struggle. We are human beings who are living in a world that is not intended to be here forever, and yet our hearts are created for eternity. We were made for so much more, and yet we let our story in this world define our eternal story.

As we walk through this season of Advent together, I pray that you will have a heart that is blooming with hope, joy, love, and peace. Not because you have had a perfect life, but because you know a Savior who was born to save you. Even in the middle of our mess, God still thought of us and sent His Son to save us from our sin and even death.

I pray that you and your family are filled with hope, joy, love, and peace. So much of it, that it changes your moods, your dreams, and the way that you love each other! Merry Christmas family and friends!
