Testify

Acts 4: 32-35 All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had. The apostles testified powerfully to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God’s great blessing was upon them all. There were no needy people among them, because those who owned land or houses would sell them and bring the money to the apostles to give to those in need.”- NLT

As soon as Jesus rose from the grave, He met with His disciples. All of them are afraid and scared of what might happen next. Jesus appeared to them with scars and all, to assure them that He had risen from the dead and He called them to the mission. From John 20:21, “Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” Jesus was not wasting any time in getting them to think about the mission here on earth.

As we work our way to Pentecost we will take a look at our life testifies to the power of the resurrection and in the work of Jesus. How can we be more like Him? How can we follow Him closely, and do as Jesus did in order to spread this Good News of eternal life found in Him?

We will first look at how Peter was restored by Jesus and finally realize how and why he would be known as the rock on which Jesus would build His church. We will then journey through all four Gospels in order to see the attributes that Jesus carries that can also help us. We will see what it means to Stay Humble, and how Jesus demonstrates that for us and what the benefits are. We will see what it means to Stay Hungry, and how Jesus embodies a real desire to be close to His Father in Heaven in order to remain close to the mission. We will see what it means to Stay Positive, and how Jesus, even in the midst of opposition and persecution, remained so close to God that His positivity would not diminish and shine like the sun. Finally we will see what it means to Stay Calm, and how Jesus always knew that there was a brighter day ahead, so there was no reason to get worried about today.

Jesus is our mentor in this mission, He is our Rabbi or teacher. We are called to be with Jesus, daily. We are called to look like Him to the world, not be of the world. Two thousand years, and Jesus’ teaching is still providing insight into how He can help us in our lives. I pray you will join us this month!
