Darkness Into Light
John 1: 1-5 “1 In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He existed in the beginning with God. 3 God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. 4 The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.” NLT
Easter is here. We begin April with Palm Sunday and immediately have activities through Holy Week as we lead ourselves into Easter Sunday. This is a time of renewal and refreshment as we lean into the Savior of the world.
I have always loved the way that the apostle John describes Jesus. He was the Word. He has always been there and everything came to life with Jesus. He is light. He shines in the darkness and the darkness can never extinguish Him! Jesus came to bring light to our dark places. He came to provide for us a light that the world could never give us.
We have been here, we have done that, and have gotten the t-shirt. Easter can be so complacent for us as we just go through another month. Or, it can be a time of realizing what we stand to gain by the amazing work of the risen Christ! Jesus did not defeat sin and death so that our lives would be boring! He came to bring us into a light that can never be extinguished!!
I pray that through April you will see a risen Jesus that not only appeared to those in Scripture, but a Jesus that is attempting to shine light into your life. Jesus is alive! He is incredible! He is loving! He is our living hope and our great shepherd, for eternity! He will never fail us!
Hopefully we can take Jesus at His word! In John 10: 9-10 Jesus says, “9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
Are you living life to the full? Do you feel the abundant grace and love of God so much that life is overwhelmingly good? Yea, me neither. Hopefully Jesus will open some doors for us during Eastertide and we will see the goodness of a God who gave up everything just to save us! You are worth it! He loves you!
